The call deflection supplementary service allows the user to respond to an incoming call by requesting redirection of that call to another number. It is one of the call diversion services. Call Deflection is sometimes also referred to as Call Redirection.

The call forwarding services permit a user to have the PBX send all incoming calls which meet a certain condition to another number. Call forward services are part of the call diversion type of services.
Call Pickup is the ability of a user to redirect a call that is alerting somewhere else to his own phone.
This is often used in teams where users can hear the ringing phones of their fellow team members. With call pickup, they can take these calls if their mates are absent.

When a call party A has a connected call to party B and transfers his end of the call to another party C, this is referred to as call transfer. Depending on the exact call scenario, there are different types of call transfer:
Refers to the situation where an endpoint already has an active call and there is a second call for this device. When the endpoint supports call waiting, the extra call is signalled and the user can decide how to handle the new call. Otherwise the extra call is rejected in this situation and this is referred to as "busy on busy".
