Five Nines

This term refers to a very high availability rate in telephony systems. 99.999% dial-tone availability is equivalent to having no service availability ("no dial-tone") for less than 5 minutes a year. This is considered state of the art in traditional TDM telephony implementations.

Acronym for Fixed Mobile Conversion. It is a solution for mobile phones (like dual mode mobile phones) switching between GSM and WLAN.

Forward Lookup

When a name is looked up in a directory (for example when an outgoing call is done) to dig out the persons telephone number, this is known as forward lookup.

This is essentially an analogue interface to connect a POTS telephone to, as opposed to FXO.
