Acronym for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol.

This protocol is used to retrieve directory information such as names and extensions from the PBX.

The PBX keeping the master copy of the PBX object database.

A PBX may either hold the master copy of the PBX object database (LDAP master) or it may maintain a copy of it (LDAP slave). The copy is maintained using LDAP requests from the slave to the master which retrieve all or part of the database.

A PBX that maintains a copy of the PBX object database by means of LDAP replication.
