Acronym for Private Automated Branch Exchange. Today, the term PBX is used as a synonym.

Acronym for Primary Access Rights Identity in DECT systems. It is part of the RFPI and identifies a base station.

Acronym for Portable Access Right Key. A value that controls access of a PP to a DECT system. The PARK is compared to one of the ARI values (PARI, SARI, TARI) available for a DECT system and if it matches, the PP is allowed to use the system.

Is a feature on QSIG and EDSS1. Is used for route optimization between PBX´s or between the PBX and the ISDN provider. It realizes a call diversion by the replacement of a call connection from a user-A to a user-B by a call connection from user-A to user-C

This feature is also called partial rerouteing

Traditionally an acronym for Private Branch eXchange. Refers to an enterprise telephony system that allows multiple telephones (terminals) to share a common set of trunk lines. Sometimes also referred to as PABX.

With innovaphone, the VoIP call server is called the PBX whereas what was known as PABX is called legacy PBX now.

In case of a distributed system, the term PBX refers to a single device with the PBX part of the firmware activated, whereas the whole PBX system is referred to as System.

In a multi-PBX scenario, all PBXs are registered with the master PBX, either directly or indirectly. This forms a tree-like structrue of registered PBXs, known as the PBX Tree.

Essentially the board inside of an electronic device that holds all the electronic components.

Pulse-code modulation is a method for digital representation of the analogue voice data. In the innovaphone context, PCM means raw voice data of the ISDN or analogue interface, not encoded to any VoIP codec like G.711 or G.729.

In a PBX system, the name of the PBX that is physically nearest to a registered endpoint. Used to perform location based routing of calls.

The system will assume the PBX that receives the first registration request (and possibly then redirects it) from the endpoint as physical location.
