Running recording server as a service

Carlos posted it already in the german section... so I put this topic into the international oriented section.

The question: Is it possible to run the recording server as a service?

The recorder has to run as Administrator and that can be a problem when a users needs administrator rights or needs te know the admin password.

Running it as a background service would be highly appreciated.

+1 from our side too
Currently we have a monitoring in place which checks if the application is running.
When not, we have to manually login and start the application.
Would be great to have it running as a service.
(And not needing windows .... ;) , but that's another wish)

Hi all,

request for having recorder as service is understood but not yet implemented - and not planned to do so.

As the PBX is always generating records without having an active recorder,

it can be started just upon investigation of the available recording reports. So no need to have it always active.

Main concerns for me are (wich are solved with a service)
1. (most important) that the user needs to have administrative rights to start the recorder.
2. all calls that are generated by the user(s) are downloaded to the server and available when needed. When starting the recorder when needed and you'll start downloading hundreds of calls before listening to your latest call it would be not efficient

Kwa, many thanks for rewriting the "Iqm as a service" article to "Recording as a service" ... I still have to test this but it's a good start.

Sidenotes: No PCAP to WAV converting, PCAP should be buffered localy... leaves some work for a furure service release of the recording server.
