Unable to choose DNS name as external PhoneBook

Good afternoon,

I am having a customer with this setup:

IP411 using an additional node as 'external' LDAP PhoneBook as described in the Wiki.

However, I have phones that connect from WAN and from LAN, so I must use DNS names, as the outside nameserver redirects pbx.company.com to their external IP (reverse proxy) and internally it redirects to the PBX IP.

When I enter a DNS value in PBX Objects -> Phone Config -> Directories -> External LDAP Server -> Server the value "Server" is removed at the phone. In MyPBX it works though.

Hello Caspar,

This is interisting. I have no idea, why the entry will be removed. I think it will be very helpful if you tell us the SW-Versions of your components.

You actually solved my problem, it's a firmware mismatch.

The IP411 runs:
12r2 sr9 IP411[12.5318], Bootcode[125318], Hardware[500]

The IP112 runs:
11r2 sr11 IP112[11.3463], Bootcode[113463], Hardware[804]

This customer scenario has been my first installation, so I did not use the update script yet, didn't knew how it worked.. so some devices are lacking updates. As soon as I updated the IP112 to 12r2 sr10 the problem was solved. I'm now updating the IP411 and I'm going to make an update script as soon as possible.

Great! Most mystirious problems can be solved by using the actual software.

The update-scripting needs a little bit of experiance and some time to build your own scripts, but it will be a great tool to keep your installation at the same version on all devices. I needed a lot of learning houres to build our scripts for different scenarios and I'm still working on the fine tuning.

To make the start and the learning easier I build a excel-sheet which can generate update script commands. It' in german, but maybe it helps you:
