[Implemented] IPVA and Qemu/KVM
Hello together,

i am trying to deploy an ipva appliance on a KVM Host.
The vm starts but says no "NIC unavailable!".
KVM distribute three NIC devices.
1. E1000
2. Virtio
3. rtl8139

As i can read the IPVA supports only AMD NIC AM79C970A.
So maybe someone had the same challenge in the past and can give me a hint how to solve this issue.

kind regards,

Felix

SOLVED:
Another Forum Post gaves me the hint that i have to use "pcnet" as nic driver.
So for others who have the same task to do:

Open the config with
virsh edit <DomainName>
Search for the network entry
Edit the row with <model type='e1000 (or smomething else)'/> TO
<model type='pcnet'/>

Re: IPVA and Qemu/KVM
Hi! Would You mind sharing VM configuration and versions You used? So far I'm unsuccessful booting this on KVM (CentOS 8). I need to migrate customer VM from ESXi to KVM. I'm provided with OVF export from VMware, converted VMDKs and and configured VM to boot from 500MB disk (MSDOS partition table) "Loading failed for image=IPVA BIN"

Re: IPVA and Qemu/KVM
I was able to successfully boot clean appliance. Turns out provided export from VMware was damaged

However 'pcnet` drivers are dropped since RHEL7, have to work around this and then we're getting somewhere.

Re: IPVA and Qemu/KVM
Hello everyone,

With 14r1 Beta 4, the IPVA will also support KVM + QEMU environments in the future smile
We have already tested Proxmox 8.0 and 8.1 positively.

All information on the release of Beta 4 will be posted in the Community PBX at https://community.innovaphone.com/.

Technical information can then be found here: https://wiki.innovaphone.com/index.php?title=Reference14r1:Concept_Innovaphone_Virtual_Appliance#Applies_To

We would be very pleased if you would also test this in your environment and give us feedback in the Community PBX.

Best regards Basti
