How to test a new App offline, respectively in a sandbox
Dear Innovaphone,

I'm new to you system, however, I have worked myself thoroughly into all your documentation, tutorials, and this forum, but I got stuck as follow:
  1. I could find no instructions/guidance how to test/compile/debug an App offline,
  2. My boss asked me to develop a new app using the callinfo Api, but doesn't want me to test the app on the live system, thus the connecting the SDK persistently requires,
  3. I have read that I can also use another IDE apart from Visual Studio, and by choice I would like to do that, however that leaves me then with the same problem of debugging and compiling and testing, etc.
Thanks.

Yours,

Hannes Nortjé

Hello Hannes, at first, welcome to the innnovaphone developer commmunity. I will try wo answer your questions as good as I can:

  1. I don't understand what you mean with offline at this point?
  2. I understand your boss. However, you can use your own IP811 hardware or even a virtual machine for developmment. We have an updated SDK documentation that describes howto setup a PBX and App Platform for development. That can be found under https://sdk.innovaphone.com. As VM software, we provide images for Hyper-V (the VM system that comes with Windows 10 - maybe you need to install it first) and VMWare.
  3. In theory you can to that (simply because our apps are only make file projects), but for now only offer support for Visual Studio. I recommmend to get a Visual Studio 2019 licence and use that for development. If you want to use another IDE, you have to figure out all debugging, deploying, compiling, etc. questions on your own.

Re: How to test a new App offline, respectively in a sandbox
Thank you so much for the quick reply and for answering my questions and welcoming me to the developer community.

OK then I will stick to Visual Studio for the sake of conformity.

It will be great if you can give me the link to download the Hyper-V Image. It might become a stretch, since my Windows is already a guest on Linux, and so to have a guest in guest might not work, but I will bridge that when I come there.

Yours

Hannes

Hi Hannes,

you can download it from http://store.innovaphone.com under "App Platform".
You'll automatically get the Hyper-V and VMWare image (App Platform x86_64).

Maybe you can virtualize the ova images in parallel to your windows VM, so that you don't need to enable Hyper-V inside a virtualized Windows.

Greetings,
Daniel
