DMZ

:
Acronym for DeMilitarized Zone

A transit network between a corporate private network and the Internet. Its purpose is to inhibit direct access from the internet to services within the private network. Instead, only services in the DMZ are directly reachable. The service within the DMZ however can in turn reach services in the private network if need be.
