Uninterruptible Power Supply

:
An uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) provides protection against system outages caused by loss of power. Usually, key components (such as gateways and telephones in a VoIP system) will be powered by PoE from a switch which is in turn secured by an UPS. This makes for a highly available system setup with minimal extra invest in the IT infrastructure.
